The Baltimore Ravens just secured a new backup for Lamar Jackson—Cooper Rush. The veteran quarterback has signed a two-year deal worth up to $12.2 million, officially ending his time with the Dallas Cowboys, the team where he started his NFL journey eight years ago.
Rush took to Instagram on Wednesday to share his thoughts on the move, sending a heartfelt message to Cowboys fans.
“From an undrafted rookie wearing #7 to an eight-year veteran wearing #10, I appreciated every moment in a Cowboys uniform,” Rush wrote. “Thank you, Dallas, for all of the love you showed to me and my family. I’m excited for the next chapter but forever grateful for the first one.”
Cowboys fans wasted no time flooding the comments with appreciation for their former QB. Many expressed sadness over his departure, while others thanked him for his contributions to the team.
“Sad to see you go, but THANK YOU for your time in Dallas and giving it your best!”
“Gonna miss you, King.”
“Thank you, Coop. Best of luck with your career!”
“Greatest backup QB of all time!”
Rush played 38 games for the Cowboys, starting in 14 of them. He finishes his time in Dallas with a 9-5 record as a starter, throwing for 3,463 yards with a 60.7% completion rate and 20 touchdowns.
While his time in Dallas may be over, it’s clear that Cowboys fans won’t forget Cooper Rush anytime soon. Now, he’s off to Baltimore, ready for a new chapter in his career.
