Cowboys & Parsons at a Standstill: No ‘Meaningful’ Contract Talks Happening

The Dallas Cowboys aren’t exactly in a rush when it comes to locking down one of their biggest stars, Micah Parsons, with a long-term deal.

There have been plenty of rumors about the team working on an extension for their dominant linebacker, but according to NFL Network’s Jane Slater, serious contract talks haven’t even started yet.

Slater cleared things up on Twitter late Tuesday night, saying:

> “Not only is it NOT done, but what would be characterized as meaningful talks haven’t even begun yet, per two sources.”

She followed up by adding that while she has no doubt a deal will get done eventually, multiple sources have told her that negotiations haven’t reached the point where anything is close to being finalized.

Translation? The Cowboys and Jerry Jones aren’t in any hurry.

Parsons has been a force for Dallas, racking up at least 12 sacks in each of his four seasons with the team. Despite his efforts, the Cowboys finished 7-10 last season, missing the playoffs.

For now, fans will have to wait and see when the front office finally decides to make a move.
