Frank Ragnow’s retirement hit the Detroit Lions hard—and teams around the league are paying attention. One team that could see this as a major opportunity? The Dallas Cowboys.
While Detroit scrambles to fill the gaping hole left by one of the best centers in football, Dallas has a bit of a surplus on the interior offensive line. And some think now might be the perfect time for Jerry Jones to offer up a solution.
Enter Brock Hoffman.
Hoffman isn’t a household name, but he’s quietly been solid for the Cowboys. Last season, he stepped up during injuries and held his own across all three interior spots—most notably at right guard and center. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed just one sack across 500+ snaps and ranked among the best in pass-blocking efficiency.
With Dallas drafting Tyler Booker in the first round, Hoffman’s path to playing time just got much tougher. But that doesn’t mean he can’t help someone else—especially a Lions team now desperate for reliable depth.
Detroit does have internal options like rookie Tate Ratledge, vet Graham Glasgow, and second-year lineman Christian Mahogany. But if Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes want someone with real center experience who can slot in immediately, Hoffman could be a smart, low-cost trade target.
Dallas wouldn’t be left bare either—they still have Asim Richards, T.J. Bass, and a few other backups ready to step in if needed.
Will the Lions bite? Maybe not. But with their O-line suddenly on shakier ground, the Cowboys making a call might be worth it.
