# Cowboys Connect with Top 50 NFL Draft Prospect at Linebacker’s Pro Day
The Dallas Cowboys continue to do their homework ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, and this week, they showed serious interest in one of the more intriguing linebacker prospects on GTA but e3the board.
Following the South Carolina Gamecocks’ Pro Day, the Cowboys — along with defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus — met with standout linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr., a player many analysts project as a Top 50 pick in this year’s draft.
Although Dallas made a few early moves in NFL free agency, none have drastically shifted the roster. Among the more notable additions were Jack Sanborn, signed from the Chicago Bears, who now reunites with his former coordinator Eberflus, and a trade for Kenneth Murray Jr., a former first-round selection from the Tennessee Titans.
While these acquisitions help solidify the linebacker group, there’s still a sense that Dallas may not be done yet — and the draft presents an ideal opportunity to keep improving.
Enter Knight Jr., who turned heads during South Carolina’s Pro Day. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the linebacker met “with at least five linebacker coaches,” including the Cowboys and Eberflus. That level of interest speaks volumes about his rising stock.
Knight had a strong final season, tallying 82 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, and one interception. His physical traits are also appealing — he measured 6-foot-2, 235 pounds, and clocked a 4.58-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
One potential concern for teams might be his age — Knight is 25 years old. He began his college career at Georgia Tech, later transferred to Charlotte, and wrapped up his collegiate journey with the Gamecocks.
Still, teams are clearly intrigued. His combination of production, athleticism, and experience makes him one of the more well-rounded linebacker prospects available.
With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching — set to take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin, beginning April 24 — Knight is a name to watch closely. If the Cowboys are serious about fortifying their defense, the Pro Day meeting may have just been the first step in a bigger plan.
