Former NFL and University of Alabama football player Marcell Dareus has been arrested and charged with domestic violence following an incident on December 30. According to the victim, Dareus shoved her to the ground and damaged her car with a metal object during an argument ¹.

Dareus turned himself in to the Jefferson County Jail on Monday and was released on a $36,000 bond. He’s facing charges of second-degree domestic violence and third-degree domestic violence/harassment ².

The victim has been granted a protection order against Dareus, according to court records. Dareus’ lawyer, Tommy Spina, released a statement saying that Dareus is entitled to the presumption of innocence and that the allegations against him must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt ².
