Detroit Lions fans, meet your new favorite player: D.J. Reed.
The veteran cornerback, fresh off a solid run with the Jets, is already winning over Detroit with his attitude—and he hasn’t even played a snap in the Honolulu blue yet. In a fun video posted by the Lions on social media, players were asked which 2025 game they’re most excited for. Most gave the usual answers—division rivals, prime time matchups, maybe a revenge game or two.
Reed? He didn’t pick one. He picked all of them.
Presented with a table full of team logos on popsicle sticks, Reed grabbed each one and said he’s fired up for every single opponent on the schedule. It was a moment that screamed “I’m here for all the smoke,” and it’s exactly the kind of energy this city loves.
Reed joins a stacked secondary that already includes rising stars like Kerby Joseph, Brian Branch, and rookie Terrion Arnold. And with 11 pass breakups and 64 tackles last season for a struggling Jets defense, Reed brings veteran savvy and toughness to a unit that’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting parts of the Lions roster.
If his play matches his personality, Detroit just might have another fan favorite in the making.
