Dallas Sets Sights on Bengals Defender for Game-Changing Signing

The Dallas Cowboys had a rough 2024 season, finishing 7-10 and missing the playoffs for the first time in four years. Injuries and coaching shake-ups played a big role in their struggles, and now they’re heading into the offseason with some serious gaps to fill—especially on defense. Safety depth was an issue all season, the defensive line needs reinforcements with Osa Odighizuwa hitting free agency, and the team could use a dominant edge rusher. On top of that, the offensive line needs help, with veteran Zack Martin dealing with injuries that have affected his performance.

One potential solution? B.J. Hill from the Cincinnati Bengals. CBS Sports has floated the idea of Dallas targeting the veteran defensive lineman to help fix their struggling run defense, which ranked as the fourth worst in the league last season. Hill has solid stats—16 sacks, 225 tackles, and 53 QB hits over four seasons with Cincinnati—and his ability to create pressure from the inside could make a huge impact.

The Cowboys’ defensive line could look very different next season, with DeMarcus Lawrence, Chauncey Golston, and Odighizuwa all needing new contracts. Adding Hill to the mix would not only strengthen the interior but also take some pressure off edge rushers like Micah Parsons, letting them do what they do best.

Dallas has a lot of work to do this offseason, but bringing in a proven player like Hill could be a big step toward turning things around in 2025. If they make the right moves and stay healthy, a playoff return isn’t out of the question.
