Dan Campbell Delivers Injury Update: Good News on Glasgow, Patience on Vaki

Detroit Lions fans can breathe a little easier after what looked like a tough end to training camp. Head coach Dan Campbell provided updates on two key players—center Graham Glasgow and running back Sione Vaki—and the news is (mostly) encouraging.

Glasgow’s Scare Turns Into a Sigh of Relief

When Glasgow went down late in camp, it sparked some real concern. After all, the Lions don’t exactly have a proven backup ready to step in at center. But Campbell reassured everyone with a short and sweet update: Glasgow “should be good.”

That’s about as close to music-to-ears as it gets for Detroit fans. With the season opener just two weeks away, having the veteran anchor back in the middle of the offensive line is a huge boost.

Vaki’s Timeline: “A Tick Longer”

As for rookie running back Sione Vaki, the update was a little less definitive. Campbell admitted Vaki’s return could “be a tick longer” than Glasgow’s, but he emphasized that it’s not a major issue.

Vaki has already made a name for himself as a special teams weapon—particularly in the return game—so his absence could leave a hole in Week 1. Jacob Saylors filled in during the preseason finale, but it’s still unclear who gets the nod if Vaki isn’t ready.

Depth Watch: Why This Matters

Glasgow’s health is critical because Detroit doesn’t have much experience behind him. Kingsley Eguakun is next in line, but he hasn’t taken a snap in a real NFL game. For Vaki, the Lions will need to shuffle return duties—maybe leaning on Craig Reynolds—until he’s back to full strength.

And while Glasgow and Vaki’s updates were mostly positive, Campbell also noted that reserve linebacker Ezekiel Turner may have suffered a “significant” injury in the preseason finale. That’s one to keep an eye on.

Looking Ahead

The Lions dodged a bullet with Glasgow, and while Vaki’s absence may be felt early, it doesn’t look like a long-term setback. With the season opener right around the corner, Dan Campbell’s updates give fans more optimism than worry.

Sometimes, no news is good news. And in this case? It feels like great news.
