Dan Campbell Elevates 3 Detroit Lions Assistants for 2025 Season

Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has made key promotions within his coaching staff to bolster the team’s performance. These moves reflect Campbell’s desire to maintain continuity and strengthen the team’s overall development.

1. Kelvin Sheppard to Defensive Coordinator
After serving as the Lions’ linebackers coach since 2021, Kelvin Sheppard has been promoted to defensive coordinator. Sheppard’s work developing standout linebackers like Jack Campbell and Alex Anzalone earned him this opportunity. His leadership is expected to enhance the entire defensive unit moving forward.

2. Hank Fraley to OL Coach/Run Game Coordinator
Offensive line coach Hank Fraley, who has been with the Lions since 2021, will now take on an expanded role as both offensive line coach and run game coordinator. Fraley’s influence has been pivotal in the development of key players like Frank Ragnow and Penei Sewell, and his new position reflects the trust the Lions have in him to shape both the line and the run game for 2025.

3. Shaun Dion Hamilton to Linebackers Coach
Former assistant linebackers coach Shaun Dion Hamilton has earned a promotion to linebackers coach. Hamilton’s development of young talent, such as Derrick Barnes and Malcolm Rodriguez, made him a natural fit for this role. His elevation signals a growing leadership presence in Detroit’s linebacker corps.

These promotions signal Campbell’s belief in his staff’s ability to continue developing talent and building a strong foundation for the Lions in 2025.
