Dan Campbell Predicts ‘Huge Season’ for Jameson Williams in 2025

Jameson Williams is turning heads in Detroit—and not just among fans. Lions head coach Dan Campbell made it clear this week: the former Alabama All-American is poised to have a huge season.

“He’s exactly where we want him to be right now,” Campbell said after a strong spring showing from Williams. “He’s grinding, he’s getting better, and we expect him to have a huge season.” That’s high praise from a coach who doesn’t hand out compliments lightly.

Campbell highlighted Williams’ growth both on and off the field. The wideout has bulked up, improved his route running, and—maybe most importantly—learned to harness his elite speed with better body control. “When you can run like he can and stop on a dime… that’s a hard cover,” Campbell noted.

Williams himself isn’t making a big deal of the hype. “I’m still the same person,” he said. “I just go about things differently now.” Entering his fourth season, Williams is becoming more of a leader and says he’s matured in how he approaches the game—and life around it.

Last season, Williams posted 58 catches for 1,001 yards and 7 touchdowns, finally showcasing the talent that made him the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. And now, with the Lions entering 2025 looking to bounce back from a disappointing playoff exit, Williams is expected to be a key part of the offense once again.

“We got a chip on our shoulder,” he said of the team’s Super Bowl hopes. “We’re not dwelling on it, but it’s still there, just for that little chip of fire we need.”

The Lions wrap up offseason practices this week and will be the first team to report to training camp later this summer, kicking off preseason play in the Hall of Fame Game on July 31 against the Chargers. If Jameson Williams keeps trending up, Detroit might just have another star on its hands.
