Dan Campbell Provides Major Update on Amon-Ra St. Brown Ahead of Bears Clash

With the regular season coming to a close, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell addressed one of the biggest questions surrounding the team ahead of their Week 18 matchup against the Chicago Bears — the health of Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Speaking to reporters this week, Campbell acknowledged that St. Brown is still dealing with lingering effects of his recent injury, but stopped short of ruling him out or guaranteeing he’ll be at full strength. As has become typical with Campbell, the message was honest, measured, and team-first.
“Amon-Ra’s a tough guy,” Campbell said, noting the star receiver’s competitiveness and desire to be on the field. However, Campbell emphasized that the Lions are being smart and cautious, especially with the season finale approaching and long-term health in mind.
St. Brown has been the heartbeat of Detroit’s offense all season, serving as Jared Goff’s most reliable target and one of the league’s most consistent wide receivers. His availability — and effectiveness — could play a major role in how aggressive the Lions choose to be offensively against a Bears team still fighting for playoff positioning.
Even if St. Brown suits up, don’t expect the Lions to push him beyond what’s necessary. This game is as much about evaluation, pride, and momentum heading into the offseason as it is about the final score.
One thing is clear: whether he plays or not, St. Brown’s leadership and presence loom large as Detroit looks to finish the season the right way in Chicago.
