Aidan Hutchinson, the Detroit Lions’ star defensive end, has been actively recruiting Myles Garrett, the Cleveland Browns’ standout pass rusher, to join forces in Detroit.
Hutchinson revealed on “The Squeeze” podcast that he and Garrett discussed the possibility of teaming up at the NFL Honors event during Super Bowl week. Hutchinson expressed his excitement about the potential pairing, saying it would be “deadly” and elevate the Lions’ defensive line to a whole new level.
He also praised Garrett, calling him a “good dude” and appreciating the fact that Garrett texted him after he got hurt. Hutchinson acknowledged that the likelihood of Garrett joining the Lions is low, but he believes that acquiring Garrett would be a game-changer for Detroit’s defense.
The Lions do have the means to make a trade happen, with nearly $52 million in cap space and first-round picks in the next two years. Garrett, who has requested a trade from the Browns, is seeking a contender where he can chase a Super Bowl ring.
The Lions, who have been one of the NFL’s most successful franchises over the past three years, certainly fit the bill. Hutchinson’s recruitment efforts demonstrate the Lions’ commitment to building a strong team and making a deep playoff run.
While the possibility of Garrett joining the Lions is uncertain, Hutchinson’s comments suggest that the team is actively exploring ways to improve its roster and make a push for a championship.
