Decker’s Health Question Mark: How One Lineman’s Recovery Could Shift the Lions-Bucs Tide.

The Detroit Lions’ offense has dodged major injury bullets, unlike their battered defense, but they’re still missing a vital piece: left tackle Taylor Decker.

Sidelined for the past two games with a shoulder issue, Decker was replaced by rookie Giovanni Manu, who struggled against the Bengals in Week 5 before hitting the IR.

In Week 6, Dan Skipper stepped up, holding his own in pass protection against the Chiefs. Now, facing the Buccaneers’ fierce defensive line—led by Vita Vea, Haason Reddick, and Yaya Diaby—the Lions are praying Decker can return. Without him, Jared Goff’s mobility could falter, and the “run on first down no matter what” offense under John Morton might stall further.

At 31, Decker anchors the O-line alongside All-Pro Penei Sewell, a duo that powered wins over the Bears, Ravens, and Browns. But Tampa’s stacked D-line is a beast.

If Decker’s not fully healthy, Skipper’s solid play might convince the Lions to rest their star tackle through the bye week for a stronger comeback.
