There’s been a lot of debate about where Shedeur Sanders will land in the upcoming NFL Draft, but his dad, Deion Sanders, wants to set the record straight—his family doesn’t have a favorite team.
A quote started making the rounds on Monday, supposedly from Deion, saying, “We are hoping for New York.” The claim was that he said this while speaking at the ProMat 2025 convention in Chicago. No video has surfaced to back it up, but the rumor caught fire.
Deion wasn’t having it. He jumped on Instagram to respond, writing, “THIS IS A LIE! We’re thankful for whatever God chooses for them.”
It’s unclear whether Sanders was saying the quote was completely made up or just that he doesn’t have a preference for Shedeur’s future team. Either way, he made it clear—he’s not pushing his son toward the Giants or any other franchise.
At one point, Shedeur was thought to be the frontrunner for the No. 1 pick in the draft, but recent reports suggest the Tennessee Titans, who hold the first pick, are more interested in Cam Ward. The Giants, who pick third, are still in the mix, while the Cleveland Browns hold the second pick and also need a quarterback.
This isn’t the first time there have been whispers about where the Sanders family wants Shedeur to play. And it’s definitely not the first time Deion has shut those rumors down.
