Deion Sanders Won’t Steer Shedeur’s NFL Path—Says Any QB-Needy Team Works

Deion Sanders is letting fate take the wheel when it comes to his son, Shedeur Sanders, and the 2025 NFL Draft. The Hall of Famer and Colorado head coach made it clear on The Skip Bayless Show that he’s not pulling any strings to get Shedeur to a specific team.

“Shedeur has shared his thoughts with me about all the teams he’s met with, so I know where his heart is,” Sanders said. “If it’s New York, Tennessee, Cleveland, the Raiders, or New Orleans—wherever he goes, I’m happy because I know what he’ll bring to the organization.”

When asked if he’d try to steer Shedeur’s landing spot, Sanders shut it down. “No, because that’s not God’s will right now. I want Shedeur to keep proving people wrong, to thrive despite the doubters. I love the hate, the negativity—it just fuels him.”

This is a shift from last year when Sanders hinted at wanting to control Shedeur’s draft process, even referencing Eli Manning’s infamous 2004 draft maneuver to land with the Giants.

Shedeur’s Draft Stock

Shedeur Sanders is currently ranked as CBS Sports’ second-best quarterback in the draft, just behind Miami’s Cam Ward. Several QB-needy teams could be eyeing him, including:

Cleveland Browns (#2 overall pick)

New York Giants (#3 overall)

Las Vegas Raiders (#6 overall)

New Orleans Saints (#9 overall)

CBS Sports’ latest mock draft projects Sanders landing with the Raiders at No. 6.

It looks like wherever Shedeur goes, he’s ready to prove himself—and Deion’s just along for the ride.
