The Detroit Lions are expected to pick up Jameson Williams’ fifth-year option, ensuring the wide receiver remains under contract through the 2026 season. Lions GM Brad Holmes confirmed at the NFL owners meetings that the team is leaning toward activating the option, which will guarantee Williams $15.49 million in 2026.
Williams had a breakout 2024 season, tallying 1,001 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, along with contributions in the run game. However, Holmes was noncommittal about a long-term extension, citing the high cost of the wide receiver market and the team’s need to prioritize future deals for key players like Aidan Hutchinson, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs. For now, Detroit will benefit from Williams’ production on a manageable contract before making a decision on his future beyond 2026.
