Michigan State University’s football team is relocating their final home game of the 2025 regular season against Maryland to Ford Field in Detroit. This move is scheduled for November 29, 2025.
The decision to relocate the game was influenced by the positive experience Michigan State had when they played Penn State at Ford Field in 2023. Despite losing that game, the atmosphere and fan support were overwhelmingly positive.
Athletic Director Alan Haller expressed enthusiasm about the move, stating that Ford Field provides a tremendous home-field advantage. He also highlighted the excitement for Michigan State’s student-athletes, who will have the opportunity to play in an NFL stadium.
Coach Jonathan Smith also welcomed the move, citing the electric atmosphere and home-field advantage it will bring. The game will mark Michigan State’s third appearance at Ford Field, following their previous games against Florida Atlantic in 2010 and Penn State in 2023.
Tickets for the rescheduled contest will be sold as a standalone event, with kickoff time and television coverage to be announced later. The game is part of a four-day football extravaganza in Detroit, featuring the Big Ten and MHSAA State Championships.
