The Detroit Lions are keeping some depth on the defensive line, bringing back Mitchell Agude for another season. The team announced his re-signing on Monday, even though they initially let him hit free agency by not tendering his exclusive rights free agent (ERFA) contract.
Agude has spent most of the past two seasons on Detroit’s practice squad, but he got his shot late in 2024 when injuries forced the team to call him up. He played in the final four regular season games, logging 40 defensive snaps, 55 on special teams, and making a solid impact with three tackles and a forced fumble. While on the smaller side for a Lions defensive end at 6-foot-4, 245 pounds, Agude adds depth and could also contribute as a SAM linebacker. With a strong preseason under his belt last year, he’ll look to carve out a bigger role in 2025.
