Detroit Lands Trio of Draft Sleepers with Big-Time Upside

The Detroit Lions may have quietly pulled off a big win on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft. According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, who spoke with college coaches across the country, the Lions selected three players widely considered to be “sleepers”—prospects who didn’t get enough attention but have serious potential.

One of those picks is LSU guard Miles Frazier, taken in the fifth round. Despite being overshadowed by higher-profile teammates, one LSU staffer believes Frazier had third-round talent, praising his intelligence and growth since transferring from FIU.

In the sixth round, the Lions took Ahmed Hassanein, an edge rusher from Boise State. Though he’s still relatively new to football, Hassanein produced big numbers—32 tackles for loss and 22 sacks over the past two seasons. His college coach even predicted he could become a 10-year NFL player, thanks to his drive, love for the game, and relentless effort.

Finally, in the seventh round, Detroit grabbed Dan Jackson, a hard-working safety from Georgia who rose from walk-on to starter. He’s projected to be a core special teams player and versatile depth piece, capable of filling multiple roles on defense.

Detroit GM Brad Holmes has had consistent success with late-round picks, and this trio may be the next wave of contributors to join that growing list.
