The Detroit Lions have been aggressive in upgrading their secondary this offseason, but they may not be done yet. According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas could be a prime candidate to join Detroit’s revamped defense.
Douglas, a former Super Bowl champion, brings valuable experience to the table. While the Lions have already added D.J. Reed and Rock Ya-Sin to replace Carlton Davis, Knox argues that Douglas’ presence would provide much-needed depth. Detroit struggled with secondary injuries last season, and adding a veteran like Douglas could be a smart insurance policy.
The 2023 season saw Douglas thrive with the Buffalo Bills, but his production dipped in 2024, allowing a 72.9% completion rate and a 122 passer rating when targeted. Despite those struggles, his veteran leadership and past success could make him an appealing option for general manager Brad Holmes.
With the Lions eyeing a deep playoff run, bolstering the secondary with experienced players could be the final piece to solidifying an already strong roster.
