Alim McNeill’s Availability for 2025 Season in Question Following ACL Injury
The Detroit Lions may face a tough start to the 2025 season as one of their key defensive players, Alim McNeill, is recovering from a torn ACL injury sustained during a game against the Buffalo Bills late in the 2024 season.
Dr. David Chao, a former NFL team doctor with Sports Injury Central, spoke with Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press about McNeill’s recovery, expressing concern about the defensive tackle’s potential availability for the beginning of the 2025 season. “Alim McNeill’s the biggest worry,” Dr. Chao said. “I think that’s gonna be tough to be ready for the start of the season. Tough, not impossible, but if you can get him back for the second part of the season to be himself, that would be pretty good.”
McNeill is a crucial part of the Lions’ defensive line, and the team is hoping for a recovery timeline that allows him to return at full strength later in the season, should he not be ready for the start.
