The much-anticipated Detroit Lions drone show, originally set for Friday, has been delayed and will now take place tonight at 7:00 p.m. The show will feature hundreds of drones launching from the Riverfront Festival Plaza. The area will be closed off for the event, but the spectacle will be visible from various locations throughout the city, with downtown Windsor being the prime viewing spot.
If you’re in the area and can see the Caesars Windsor hotel towers, you’ll likely have a great view of the show. Windsor residents got a preview of the excitement on Friday, with celebrations already in full swing.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens expressed gratitude for the event, stating, “We thank the Detroit Lions for this generous gift to our community, and for ensuring Canadian fans can join in the excitement of these playoffs. This is another solid opportunity to highlight the Windsor-Detroit region’s strong reputation as a world-class sports tourism destination and to reinforce our identity as the ultimate ‘Two Nation Destination.’”
For those heading downtown, Ouellette Avenue will be closed from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to facilitate the event.
