Detroit Lions have unveiled a major jersey update for wide receiver Jameson Williams. Following an extraordinary 2024 season where the Lions posted a 15-2 record to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC, Williams emerged as a key contributor, recording his first 1,000‐yard season in his young NFL career.

This season, as the team aims to reclaim the top seed and mount a Super Bowl run, Williams will sport a new number. In a move that honors his college roots, he returns to wearing No. 1—the same number he wore with the Alabama Crimson Tide. The team’s decision is part of broader jersey changes that include fellow former Alabama players—Jahmyr Gibbs, now donning No. 0, and Terrion Arnold, switching to No. 6.

Williams has consistently proven his worth in Dan Campbell’s dynamic offense, where his speed and big-play capability make him a constant threat. He joins an elite group of playmakers including Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and David Montgomery.

The No. 1 jersey is gaining popularity among receivers, notably with Ja’Marr Chase, who recently secured a massive deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. Thanks to a 2021 NFL rule change, wide receivers can now choose from numbers 0–49 and 80–89, allowing Williams to reclaim his college number and fuel hopes of recapturing his Tuscaloosa magic for the Lions.

As the Detroit Lions prepare for another thrilling season, fans eagerly anticipate Williams’ performance and the renewed energy brought by these historic jersey changes all.
