Detroit Lions Eye Veteran Defender with Championship Pedigree

Lions Eyeing Veteran CB Rasul Douglas for Secondary Boost

The Detroit Lions have been busy revamping their secondary this offseason, but they might not be done yet. According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, former Buffalo Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas could be a smart addition to Detroit’s defense.

Why Douglas Could Fit in Detroit
Knox points out that while the Lions have made some solid moves   bringing in D.J. Reed and Rock Ya-Sin   they still need experienced depth after losing Carlton Davis to the Patriots. Given last season’s depth struggles, adding another veteran could be a smart insurance policy.

        Douglas’ Recent Performance
Douglas had a solid 2023 campaign but struggled in 2024, allowing a 72.9% completion rate and a 122 passer rating when targeted. Despite that dip, his experience and ability to bounce back could make him a valuable rotational player in Detroit’s secondary.

      Lions’ Plan at Cornerback
GM Brad Holmes hasn’t wasted time reloading the position, signing Reed, Avonte Maddox, and Rock Ya-Sin to help fill the gaps. While the Lions seem to have their cornerback room set, adding Douglas could provide extra flexibility—especially for a team eyeing a deep playoff run.

For now, Detroit appears satisfied with their moves, but if the opportunity presents itself, don’t be shocked if Douglas ends up in a Lions uniform.
