Detroit Lions Initiate Trade Discussions with Browns

The Detroit Lions aren’t done trying to land a superstar for their defense.

According to analyst Jeff Risdon, Detroit has once again reached out to the Cleveland Browns about trading for Myles Garrett, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. This isn’t the first time the Lions have shown interest—Risdon says they made inquiries before last season’s trade deadline, but Cleveland wasn’t willing to part with their star pass rusher.

Now, with reports that Garrett has requested a trade, Detroit is back in the mix. While there’s no word on specific trade offers, it’s clear the Lions haven’t given up hope. That said, every Cleveland source at the NFL Combine apparently gave the same response: the Browns aren’t interested in dealing their elite defender.

With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, the timing of any potential move is unclear. But if Detroit is serious about making a splash, they’ll have to come up with a blockbuster offer to change Cleveland’s mind.
