Detroit Lions Linked to $156M Star in Bold Move to Boost Aidan Hutchinson

Many analysts expect the Detroit Lions to prioritize pass-rush help early in the 2026 NFL Draft—and that’s a real possibility. Still, it doesn’t rule out a major move in free agency. One name that would qualify as a headline signing is Joey Bosa.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox identified the Lions as one of the strongest landing spots for Bosa in 2026.
Knox noted that although Bosa turns 31 in July, he continues to be a productive and disruptive rotational edge rusher. Last season with the Buffalo Bills, he recorded five sacks, 24 quarterback pressures, and nine tackles for loss.
He added that while Bosa’s performance could still warrant a multi-year contract, he’s better suited to a contending team at this stage of his career rather than one in a rebuild. Even if he remains effective beyond 2027, his value is highest with a team ready to compete now.
That’s where Detroit comes in. The Lions still lack a true high-end partner opposite Aidan Hutchinson. Although they signed D.J. Wonnum in free agency, there’s still room in the rotation for someone like Bosa.
Over his career, Bosa has totaled 77 sacks across 122 games, along with 96 tackles for loss, 172 quarterback hits, and 22 forced fumbles.
In 2025 with Buffalo, he led the league with five forced fumbles, while also adding five sacks, nine tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits.
