Detroit Lions Linked to Another Browns Trade Target

Lions Could Target Browns’ Greg Newsome II in Trade Talks
The Detroit Lions may soon be in the market for another cornerback, and Greg Newsome II of the Cleveland Browns is reportedly a potential target. After a disappointing 2024 season, where Newsome allowed 62.7% completion and 9.6 yards per attempt, the young cornerback’s stock has taken a hit. However, his previous two seasons (2023 and 2022) featured solid performances, including a 56.7% completion rate and just 6.7 yards per target last season.

The Lions have a need in the secondary, especially after allowing 7.2 yards per attempt in 2024. They could lose Carlton Davis in free agency, making a move for a cornerback like Newsome appealing. Whether Newsome can return to his 2023 form with a fresh start in Detroit remains to be seen, but if the Lions can land him at the right price, it could pay off in the long run as they look to solidify their defense.

If Cleveland is looking to move Newsome as part of their broader cap restructuring, the Lions might have an opportunity to take a chance on the promising cornerback.
