Detroit Lions Opt Not to Tender RFAs, Focus on Keeping RB

Lions Keep Craig Reynolds Despite Not Tendering RFA Offer

The Detroit Lions opted not to tender running back Craig Reynolds before the start of the new league year, but that doesn’t mean he’s leaving town. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the team plans to bring Reynolds back on a one-year deal this week.

Reynolds played in all 17 games for the Lions last season, contributing 139 rushing yards on 31 carries while also logging 272 snaps on special teams. His versatility has made him a valuable depth piece in Detroit’s backfield.

In addition to Reynolds, the Lions chose not to tender restricted free agents Anthony Pittman (LB), Shane Zylstra (TE), and Kayode Awosika (OL), making them unrestricted free agents. However, they did retain defensive lineman Myles Adams, who officially signed a one-year deal on Wednesday after joining the team late last season.

While Reynolds’ exact contract details have yet to be finalized, his expected return ensures stability behind Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery in Detroit’s rushing attack.
