Detroit Lions Reportedly Agree to Deal with Journeyman QB

Lions Add Veteran QB Kyle Allen to the Mix
The Detroit Lions are bringing in some veteran depth at quarterback, reportedly agreeing to terms with Kyle Allen. The 29-year-old signal-caller spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers and has now landed in Detroit, marking the sixth stop of his NFL career.

Allen has experience with multiple teams, including the Panthers, Texans, Bills, and Commanders, with his most significant playing time coming in 2019 when he started 12 games for Carolina. Now, he joins a Lions quarterback room led by Jared Goff, with Hendon Hooker and Jake Fromm also in the mix.

With Teddy Bridgewater moving on, Allen’s arrival could provide insurance at backup QB, but it also raises questions about Hooker’s role moving forward.
