Lions Add Veteran QB Kyle Allen to Roster
The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with veteran quarterback Kyle Allen, adding experience to their quarterback room. Allen, 29, has played for multiple teams since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2018, with stops in Carolina, Washington, Houston, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh.
With 31 career games and 19 starts under his belt, Allen has thrown for 4,753 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. He now joins a Lions squad where he’ll compete with Hendon Hooker for the backup role behind Jared Goff. Allen’s arrival also raises questions about Hooker’s future, especially after Detroit brought back Teddy Bridgewater late last season. The Lions are clearly prioritizing depth at quarterback as they prepare for another playoff push.
