Detroit Lions Sign Former Eagles CB Avonte Maddox

The Detroit Lions have bolstered their secondary by signing veteran cornerback Avonte Maddox. After spending seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Maddox brings plenty of experience to Detroit’s defense.

In 2024, he played all 17 regular-season games—starting three—and contributed 19 tackles and five pass breakups. He also played in all four of the Eagles’ playoff games, including Super Bowl LIX. Over his career, Maddox has racked up 264 tackles, 36 pass defenses, and four interceptions.

Originally a fourth-round pick out of Pittsburgh in 2018, Maddox now joins a Lions team looking to add depth and versatility in the secondary. His ability to play both outside and in the slot could be valuable as Detroit builds its roster for the upcoming season.
