The Detroit Lions are working hard to manage their roster and salary cap for 2025, and one of their latest moves involves restructuring Kalif Raymond’s contract. The veteran wide receiver and return specialist agreed to a pay cut, ensuring he remains in Detroit for a fifth straight season while also helping the team free up cap space.
According to Pride of Detroit, Raymond’s renegotiated deal lowers his overall contract value, but he receives a slight pay bump in 2025 and significantly more guaranteed money. The Lions, in turn, save between $900,000 and $1.05 million on the cap this year, with an even bigger benefit coming in 2026.
Raymond played a key role last season, earning Second-Team All-Pro honors while tallying 413 yards and a touchdown. Some speculated he might be a cap casualty, but this deal keeps him in the Motor City without straining the team’s finances. With the Lions aiming for another deep playoff run, keeping versatile veterans like Raymond could be a difference-maker.
