The Detroit Lions’ draft plans don’t seem to have changed much, even after the NFL Combine.
Heading into the draft, Detroit is expected to target an edge rusher to pair with Aidan Hutchinson after last season’s disappointing pass rush. Now, a new mock draft from Athlon Sports’ Luke Easterling has the Lions selecting Boston College standout Donovan Ezeiruaku with the 28th overall pick.
Ezeiruaku had an up-and-down college career but ended on a high note. After a breakout sophomore season, he struggled in his junior year before bouncing back with a dominant senior campaign—racking up 16.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, and earning ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Despite some concerns about his size, his production speaks for itself.
If the Lions are looking for a proven pass rusher rather than a high-upside project, Ezeiruaku could be the perfect fit. But with plenty of edge rushers available in this year’s draft, it all depends on who’s still on the board when Detroit is on the clock.
