Detroit WR Mulling Retirement After Years with Lions

After 11 seasons in the NFL, Detroit Lions wide receiver Allen Robinson is weighing the possibility of retirement. The 31-year-old veteran is considering stepping away from the game to focus more on his media career, which includes potential opportunities with SiriusXM and launching his own podcast.

Robinson, a Detroit native, was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars after playing at Penn State. Over the years, he has played for multiple teams, including the Bears, Rams, Steelers, and Giants, gaining experience under various offensive systems.

Reflecting on his career, Robinson expressed gratitude for the journey football has given him. “I’ve been able to learn so much football and just so much in general. It’s been a blessing to have experiences that I don’t think anything else in my life would’ve given me,” he said.

In the 2024 season, Robinson had a limited role with the Lions, recording just three receptions for 30 yards in 12 appearances. However, he made it clear that he has no regrets about his career. “I wanted to look back and have no regrets,” he said. “I’ve put everything I had into this game.”

As he takes time to make a decision with his family, Robinson appears to be preparing for life after football, whether that means staying in the league for another season or transitioning fully into the media world.
