Detroit’s Big Decision: Will They Lock Down Their Trusted OL Vet

The Detroit Lions are looking to make some moves in free agency, especially when it comes to their offensive line. They have a solid group already locked in, including Taylor Decker, Penei Sewell, and Frank Ragnow, but there’s a lot of focus on whether or not they’ll bring back veteran guard Kevin Zeitler.

Zeitler had a great year in 2024, ranking as one of the top guards in the league. He was strong in both pass protection and run blocking, and the Lions are hoping to secure him again for the upcoming season. If they do, it’ll give them a solid trio with Graham Glasgow and Christian Mahogany also in the mix. But if Zeitler decides to leave, there are plenty of other options on the market.

Veterans like Brandon Scherff and Will Hernandez could be possible fits, with Scherff offering a ton of experience and Hernandez bringing a physical presence. There’s also Evan Brown, who knows the system well and could provide depth if needed. The Lions are definitely focused on strengthening their line, so expect them to prioritize this position as they head into free agency.
