Detroit’s Got Game: Eminem Joins Forces to Bring Back WNBA Team

Eminem is trying to help bring a WNBA team back to his hometown of Detroit. He’s joined a group of local business leaders, athletes, and sports team owners, including Tom Gores, the owner of the Detroit Pistons, to bid for a WNBA expansion team.

The group also includes notable members like Grant Hill, Chris Webber, Jared Goff, and Mary Barra, the CEO of General Motors. Eminem, being a huge Detroit sports fan, is a natural fit for this effort.

Detroit has a rich WNBA history, having hosted the Detroit Shock from 1998 to 2009. The team won three WNBA championships during that time before relocating to Tulsa and eventually becoming the Dallas Wings.

The WNBA is currently considering expansion, with at least 10 cities submitting bids, including Detroit, Charlotte, Cleveland, and Houston. Having Eminem on board could boost Detroit’s chances of getting a team.
