Detroit’s Rising Stars: Three Tigers Prospects Get Futures Game Call

Three of the franchise’s top minor league prospects have been selected to represent the American League in the 2025 All-Star Futures Game, Major League Baseball’s annual showcase of its most promising young talent. The announcement is a testament to the Tigers’ strong player development pipeline and signals hope for a club that continues to rebuild with youth at its core.

Outfielder Jace Monroe, right-hander Luis Tejada, and shortstop Carter Hill will don the AL Futures jersey during All-Star Weekend next month, joining some of the best up-and-coming talent from across the league.

“It’s an honor,” said Monroe, the Tigers’ No. 2 prospect and a former first-round pick. “To be recognized on that kind of stage means a lot. I’ve been working hard every day, and this just motivates me to keep pushing.”

Monroe, 20, has been tearing up Double-A pitching this season with the Erie SeaWolves, batting .301 with 14 home runs and 43 RBIs in 68 games. Known for his elite bat speed and athleticism in center field, Monroe has been on a steady rise since being drafted in 2023.

Tejada, 21, ranked as Detroit’s No. 4 prospect, has made major strides this year in Triple-A Toledo. The Dominican right-hander boasts a fastball that touches 98 mph and has posted a 2.89 ERA with 87 strikeouts over 71.2 innings. His command and poise on the mound have scouts buzzing about his big-league readiness.

Then there’s Hill, the Tigers’ No. 3 prospect and the organization’s top infield defender. The 20-year-old shortstop has flashed Gold Glove-caliber range while improving his offensive production, slashing .278/.347/.430 at Double-A. His maturity and instincts have drawn comparisons to some of the game’s elite middle infielders.

The 2025 Futures Game is scheduled for Sunday, July 13 at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, serving as the premier event for fans and scouts to get a glimpse at baseball’s next generation of stars. With three names on the roster, Detroit’s presence is among the strongest of any MLB team.

Tigers General Manager Scott Harris called the selections “a well-earned recognition for three players who exemplify the kind of competitive, high-character talent we’re building around.”

As Detroit continues its push toward contention in the coming years, performances like these suggest that help is on the horizon—and possibly closer than fans might think.
