As the Detroit Lions prepare for Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the team is taking a cautious approach with two of their highly touted rookies.
According to team sources, defensive tackle Tyleik Williams and offensive lineman Tate Ratledge will not suit up for the preseason opener. The decision isn’t tied to any major injuries but rather a precautionary move by the coaching staff to ease the young players into the pro game and avoid unnecessary risk early in camp.
Both Williams and Ratledge have shown promise during training camp, drawing praise from coaches for their work ethic and early flashes of potential. With the Lions having five preseason games in total, they’re opting to give the rookie duo more time to adjust and fully ramp up before putting them in live action.
Detroit will still have plenty of young talent on display, but fans hoping to see these two 2025 draft picks in action will have to wait a little longer.
