Digging Deeper: How Detroit’s Late-Round Picks Could Make an Impact

1. Jacob Parrish – CB, Kansas State (Round 5)

Pick: 162nd overall

This might be the steal of Detroit’s draft.

Jacob Parrish earned the nickname “slot demon” for a reason — he’s sticky in coverage, ultra-quick, and plays with confidence. He may be undersized at 5’10”, but don’t let that fool you. He mirrors receivers like he’s reading their minds and brings serious energy to the secondary.

With the Lions’ cornerback group still looking for consistency, Parrish could challenge for nickel corner snaps right away — especially with Kindle Vildor and others on the bubble.

2. Elijah Jones – CB, Boston College (Round 6)

Pick: 210th overall

Yep, another corner — and for good reason.

Elijah Jones gives Detroit a tall, rangy corner who has the frame (6’2”) to match up with bigger receivers. He’s more of a developmental prospect, but he’s battle-tested in the ACC and not afraid to get physical. Think of him as a special teams contributor early with upside down the road.

If he sticks around through camp, the coaching staff may mold him into a solid rotational DB.

3. Dallin Holker – TE, Colorado State (Round 7)

Pick: 249th overall

This guy’s a sleeper.

Dallin Holker had one of the most productive tight end seasons in the country last year. He’s not a pure blocker, but his route-running and reliable hands could make him a sneaky good weapon in the passing game. Think of him as a poor man’s Sam LaPorta — and considering how much Detroit loves two-TE sets, there’s room for him to earn a spot.

He’ll have to fight through a crowded room, but if he shows out in camp, he’s got a real shot.

Final Word: It’s All About Depth and Development

The Lions weren’t just drafting for 2025 — they were building depth for the long haul. These late-round guys may not all make the 53-man roster, but if even one or two stick? That’s a win.

Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes have made a name for themselves finding value late (see: Malcolm Rodriguez), so don’t sleep on these picks. Someone here could be the next big surprise in Honolulu Blue.
