Draft Analyst Highlights 3 ‘Swiss Army Knife’ Prospects for Detroit Lions
Daniel Jeremiah, an NFL Network draft analyst, recently shared some intriguing names for the Lions to consider in the 2025 NFL Draft. These players are known for their versatility, which aligns with the Lions’ preference for “do-it-all” talent, rather than focusing solely on one position.
1. J.J. Pegues – Defensive Tackle / Versatile Playmaker (Ole Miss)
Pegues stands out as a massive defensive tackle (6-2, 325 pounds) who can also function as an edge rusher and even a wildcat quarterback or H-back on offense. He scored seven rushing touchdowns last season and offers a unique blend of power and versatility. The Lions have experimented with similar multi-position players, making Pegues an interesting prospect for Detroit’s defensive and offensive schemes.
2. Woody Marks – Running Back / Versatile Weapon (USC)
While the Lions don’t have a pressing need for a running back, Marks’ ability to catch passes out of the backfield and contribute in multiple ways makes him a fascinating option. He has impressive college production, with over 45 receptions in four of his five college seasons. Marks could be a mismatch player who adds depth to the offense with his all-around skill set.
3. Willie Lampkin – Undersized Center / Multi-Position Potential (North Carolina)
Lampkin, a 5-10, 270-pound center, is undersized but plays with great leverage, strength, and power. Jeremiah expressed disappointment that Lampkin didn’t receive an invite to the Combine, as he believes the player could potentially excel at other positions such as tight end, fullback, or even defensive tackle. Though undersized for a center, Lampkin’s wrestling background and versatility could make him a valuable addition to the Lions.
These versatile prospects could fit perfectly into the Lions’ roster philosophy, where adaptability is key.
