The 49ers Have Another Problem — and This Time It’s Not Injuries
The San Francisco 49ers are hoping this season doesn’t turn into a sequel to last year’s disaster. After an injury-filled mess that cost them a shot at the playoffs, the team is trying to reset, reload, and move on. But now, just as the dust was starting to settle, there’s a fresh issue — and it’s coming from inside the locker room.
Word is, wide receiver Jauan Jennings isn’t thrilled with his current deal — and he’s letting the team know about it.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jennings wants one of two things: a new contract, or a ticket out of town. He’s set to make $7.5 million this year in the final season of his deal — not exactly peanuts — but apparently, that’s not cutting it anymore. Even though the Niners gave him an extension last year, Jennings is still looking for more security (or maybe just a bigger bag).
Naturally, fans had thoughts. Twitter lit up with reactions:
* “$7M is more than most people will see in a lifetime. Just sayin’.”
* “Great 3rd receiver, sure. But a question mark as a WR2 on a legit title team.”
* And one spicy take: “I wouldn’t want to play with Brock Purdy either.”
So now the question is: Will the 49ers pay up or move on?
Jennings isn’t a superstar, but he’s been clutch in big moments. Still, it’s unclear if that’s enough for the front office to break out the checkbook — or if they’ll just let him test his luck somewhere else.
Stay tuned. The drama in the Bay is just heating up.
