According to Steelers insider Gerry Dulac, signing a wide receiver will be the team’s top priority in free agency. During his weekly chat for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Dulac responded to a fan’s inquiry about the Steelers’ free agency focus by stating, “WR tops.”

Attempts to bolster the receiving corps with players like Van Jefferson and Scotty Miller did not yield the desired results, as no one consistently complemented primary receiver George Pickens. While Tee Higgins is expected to receive the non-exclusive franchise tag from the Cincinnati Bengals, other prominent names such as DeAndre Hopkins, Chris Godwin, and Amari Cooper are potential targets for the Steelers. Acquiring a seasoned wide receiver would not only provide immediate impact but also allow the team to address other positions, like defensive line and cornerback, through the draft, which boasts depth in these areas.
