Dylan Smith Is Headed to the Bigs!
Remember Dylan Smith from his days throwing heat for the Crimson Tide? Well, he’s officially getting his shot at the big leagues. Word is, the Detroit Tigers are calling him up.
Smith pitched for Alabama from 2019 to 2021, then skipped his senior year to enter the 2021 MLB Draft. The Tigers grabbed him in the third round, and he’s been grinding his way through the minors ever since. Just recently, he got bumped up to Triple-A in Toledo—and now, he’s on the verge of making his MLB debut.
If he hits the mound in a game, it’ll be his first-ever appearance in the majors.
Oh, and he won’t be the only Tide alum in Detroit. Chase Lee, another former Alabama pitcher, already made his debut with the Tigers earlier this season. Roll Tide takeover?
