Eagles’ Season-Opening Opponent Revealed—And It’s a Surprise

Bears Could Open 2025 Season Against Super Bowl Champs, Eagles
After the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl victory, all eyes are on who will be their opponent for the 2025 season opener at Lincoln Financial Field. While the Eagles have several high-profile rivals they could face—like the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, or Washington Commanders—NFL insider Adam Schefter has made a surprising prediction: the Chicago Bears.

Schefter explained that although it’s not the “marquee matchup” many might expect, the Bears are an intriguing option. Coming off a 5-12 season, the Bears are making moves this offseason to rebuild with new head coach Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. With plenty of cap space and the 10th overall pick, Chicago has the potential to become a much stronger team in 2025.

For the Eagles, opening the season against a rebuilding Bears team could offer an easier path to starting the year with a win. While the matchup may not generate the same excitement as facing NFC contenders like the Rams or Lions, Schefter pointed out that the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory celebration will still draw major attention.

The matchup may lack the star power of a traditional NFC showdown, but as Schefter said, “most people will watch opening night regardless of who is playing,” especially with fantasy football and betting interests involved.

It will be interesting to see if the Bears-Eagles matchup becomes a reality when the full 2025 schedule is released.
