Loeffler has decades of experience coaching quarterbacks, dating back to his time at Michigan, where he worked with Tom Brady as a student assistant. While his only previous NFL experience came in 2008 with the Detroit Lions during their infamous 0-16 season, he’s built a reputation as a strong developer of talent at multiple college programs, including Temple, Auburn, Virginia Tech, and Boston College.

Loeffler’s arrival comes at a crucial time for the Eagles, who are fresh off a Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, where Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP. While Hurts led the team to championship glory, his 2024 regular-season passing numbers were his lowest since becoming the Eagles’ full-time starter—throwing for 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. However, two major factors contributed to that dip:
Saquon Barkley’s historic season – The star running back rushed for over 2,000 yards, becoming just the ninth player in NFL history to achieve that feat.
Hurts’ injury struggles – He battled a broken finger and a concussion that forced him to miss the final three regular-season games.
