Early Energy Boom: $40M Raised in Initial Public Land Leases Under Trump”

Trump Admin’s First Oil and Gas Lease Sales Bring in Nearly $40 Million

The Department of the Interior (DOI) just announced that the first round of oil and gas lease sales on public lands in 2025 has pulled in a solid $39 million. According to the agency, these sales highlight their commitment to responsible energy development while boosting American energy production and cutting down reliance on foreign resources.

DOI Secretary Doug Burgum made it clear: “This quarter’s lease sales prove our dedication to making America an energy powerhouse. Thanks to pro-growth policies, we’re making sure public lands are being used to strengthen national security, the economy, and American livelihoods.”

So far, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has leased out 34 parcels covering about 25,038 acres, with states like North Dakota, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, and Wyoming benefiting from the deals. The revenue from these leases will be split between state and federal governments.

This all ties back to Trump’s Executive Order 14154, which focuses on meeting the country’s energy needs and solidifying America’s position as a global energy leader. Oil and gas leases typically run for 10 years but can be extended if production continues. The government also takes a 16.67% cut in royalties   from whatever gets produced.

And this is just the beginning  BLM has  15 more lease sales    lined up for the rest of 2025.
