End of an Era: Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s Last State of the City Speech

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan took the stage for his 12th and final State of the City address, marking the end of an era for the city’s longest-serving mayor. 

During his speech, Duggan reflected on his time in office, highlighting Detroit’s transformation over the past decade. From tackling blight and improving city services to boosting economic development, he detailed the progress made since he first took office in 2014. 

While celebrating the city’s growth, Duggan also acknowledged the challenges that remain, urging Detroiters to keep pushing forward. With his tenure coming to a close, he made it clear that his focus remains on ensuring a smooth transition and setting up Detroit’s future leaders for success.
