Ex-Lions Coach Hints He’d Love to Reunite With Jameson Williams in New York

Former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, now head coach of the New York Jets, might have his eyes on one of Detroit’s rising stars. Speaking during Jets rookie minicamp, Glenn praised wide receiver Jameson Williams and hinted at a strong bond the two built in Detroit.

“Every morning at 7:30, Jamo was in my office. And we would sit there and talk,” Glenn recalled, crediting Dan Campbell for helping prepare him for the top job.

While there’s been quiet chatter about a possible Williams trade, nothing has materialized. The Lions aren’t likely to part ways with the explosive wideout after he finally broke out in 2024, posting 1,001 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. Detroit even picked up his fifth-year option, keeping him under contract through 2026.

Still, the Jets’ need for a playmaker opposite Garrett Wilson makes Williams an appealing target. Glenn’s admiration for the player is clear, and if he had his way, he’d welcome Jamo to New York in a heartbeat. For now, though, the Lions are focused on a Super Bowl run—and Williams remains a key part of that mission.
