Ex-Lions Starter Tim Boyle Facing Cut After Titans Minicamp

Tim Boyle’s NFL journey might be nearing another dead end.

The former Detroit Lions quarterback, who had a brief stint starting games for the team a few years ago, is reportedly clinging to the thinnest of hopes with the Tennessee Titans. After offseason workouts and minicamp, Boyle finds himself buried at fourth on the depth chart—behind Cam Ward, Will Levis, and Brandon Allen.

And with training camp just weeks away, that’s not a promising spot.

The writing’s already on the wall. Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick, is expected to be the future in Tennessee. Levis is still hanging around as last year’s Week 1 starter. And Allen, who signed with the Titans this offseason, got a $1 million guarantee—which all but locks him into a roster spot. Boyle? He got no guaranteed money in his deal.

That means he’s basically a camp body, brought in to throw passes during practices until the Titans trim down the roster. Unless something unexpected happens—like an injury or a sudden trade—Boyle’s days in Nashville appear to be numbered.

For Detroit fans, it’s a familiar storyline. Boyle had moments in Honolulu blue but never quite stuck. And now, unless another opportunity opens up elsewhere, his NFL future looks cloudy.

On the bright side? If he’s a fan of country music, at least he’s got some great venues to visit while he’s still in Music City.
