Ex-NFL GM Predicts Lions Will Pull Off Trade for Myles Garrett

Former NFL GM Predicts Myles Garrett Will Join the Detroit Lions

Could Myles Garrett be the next big acquisition for the Detroit Lions? Former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum believes so. During a recent appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Tannenbaum predicted that Garrett, the star pass rusher for the Cleveland Browns, could be headed to Detroit, seeing it as a perfect fit for both sides.

Why Garrett Makes Sense for Detroit

Tannenbaum sees the Lions in a prime position to contend for a Super Bowl, and he believes Garrett could be the missing piece to push them over the top. “This just makes too much sense. If you’re the Detroit Lions, you have a chance to win right now,” Tannenbaum explained. “When you have to beat San Francisco, Philadelphia, Green Bay, and Minnesota, you’ve got to beat some great passing games.” Adding Garrett to the roster would give Detroit one of the most dynamic pass-rushing duos in the NFL, alongside Aidan Hutchinson.

Aidan Hutchinson’s Injury and Za’Darius Smith’s Role

With Hutchinson coming off an injury and the addition of veteran Za’Darius Smith, Tannenbaum believes adding Garrett to the mix would be the final ingredient to form a championship-caliber defense. “I like the Za’Darius Smith addition, but go get a Hall of Famer in his 20s. He may get you over the hump,” he added.

Cleveland’s Rebuilding Dilemma

Tannenbaum also pointed out the challenges that could arise in acquiring Garrett, especially since the Browns have continued to commit to him as a cornerstone piece. However, he suggests that if Cleveland decides to enter a rebuilding phase, trading Garrett for multiple assets could be in their best interest: “If you’re Cleveland rebuilding, get as many assets as you can.”

The Bottom Line

If the Detroit Lions were able to land Myles Garrett, they would have a terrifying pass rush combination in Garrett and Hutchinson. This move would not only boost their defense but would also solidify their Super Bowl aspirations in 2025. The potential addition of Garrett is an exciting possibility for Lions fans.
